The Card Counter 2*/10 - its too freaky for me and its still not even finished.
I only really wanted to watch it so I could ogle Willem Dafoe, but despite my best efforts, the movie was too slow, and I just can't get into it.
I went off to make some coffee and while I was out of the room (maximum of 5 minutes, and still within earshot of the telly) it somehow jumped into some random shit about ?torture and I couldn't connect the dots.
The music keeps being "interesting", sort of almost drawing me back in, but I've lost interest now.
Anyone else seen it? As its on a terrestrial channel it will probably come back round in a few days so I wondered if anyone else's opinion might sway me into paying more attention next time.
*only awarded because Willem Dafoe looking edgy ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Rewatching a classic: The Hill (1965)
Old skool racism and homophobia before we got all this diversity nonsense That's easy going though. One of the prisoners was about to turn on the shower. "Not that one!" exclaims a fellow prisoner,
"That one turns on the gas."

Nefarious 8/10.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14537248/
runs a bit like a play, most of the film is just 2 men in a room conversing.
had me and the wench engaged right until the end.
the best film i saw last year i reckon. ____________________ current bike Yamaha Thunderace.

'The First Omen' in the cinema. I liked it- but my pregnant wife did not. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

Generally good, as long as you can ignore the hardcore Christian propaganda elements, and that shitty scene where the guards inexplicably stand around with their thumbs up their arses. ____________________ BCF: Be yourself, just don't be an arse. |

Has anyone mentioned “Wicked Little Letters?”
Tim Spall, Jessie Buckley and Olivia Coleman. True story bro about a sweary poison pen letter writer in the 1920’s in a genteel village. Scandal abounds. Loads of silly, obscene, sweariness. Very funny and a bit tragic too.
Here’s some quotes to give you a flavour (Personally, I hope some of these catch on)
You piss-country old stinker with s**t hair
You great big f**king onion
You f**king old steaming bag of wet, leaking shit
You mangey old titless turnip
…..and my personal favourite…..
You look like, f**king, Queen Victoria, just shoved a f**king nettle up her f**king pussy ____________________ Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're probably right |

The Outfit (on Netflix)
An unassuming Saville Row suit maker working in mobster-run Chicago and how events one evening can seemingly spin out of control.
A tight little play-like film with actors actually acting... revolutionary in the 21st Century! With such a claustrophobic setting (3 rooms) no surprise Mark Rylance dominates but the supporting cast are up to the task. No CGI, relatively no budget but still a good movie. ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |
